RF cavitation has become one of the most searched body contouring treatments in Birmingham — and for good reason. It offers a non-surgical way to target localised fat deposits and cellulite that diet and exercise alone cannot shift. But there is a lot of confusion about what it actually does, who it works for, and what kind of results to expect. Our practitioners at DZ Beauty in Sutton Coldfield break it down.
What Is RF Cavitation?
RF cavitation combines two technologies in a single treatment: low-frequency ultrasound (cavitation) and radio frequency energy. The ultrasound component creates microscopic bubbles within the fat layer beneath the skin. As these bubbles expand and collapse, they disrupt the membranes of fat cells — a process called cavitation — causing the fat cells to break down. The released fatty acids are then carried away by the lymphatic system and naturally eliminated by the body. The RF component simultaneously heats the tissue to stimulate collagen production, tightening the skin above the treated area.
What Does Treatment Feel Like?
The treatment is comfortable throughout. The cavitation component produces a low humming sound that you may hear in the ear closest to the device — this is entirely normal and harmless. The RF component delivers a warm sensation on the skin, similar to a heated massage. Sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes per area. There is no downtime, no injections, and no anaesthetic required.

- Upper arms
- Back fat and bra area

- Cellulite-prone areas on the legs and thighs
Who Gets the Best Results?
RF cavitation works best for clients who are at or close to their healthy weight and want to reduce stubborn, localised fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. It is a body contouring treatment, not a weight loss solution. Clients with a BMI above 30 typically see more limited results, as the ultrasound energy has difficulty penetrating through a significant depth of fat. Staying well-hydrated before and after sessions helps the lymphatic system process and eliminate the released fat more efficiently.
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
Most clients see initial results after 2 to 3 sessions, with optimal results achieved after a course of 6 to 8 treatments spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. We offer a combined RF Cavitation and Cellulite Combo at DZ Beauty for clients targeting both fat reduction and skin smoothing in the same session — which is the most popular approach among our Sutton Coldfield clients.
