Skin Boosters · Sutton Coldfield
The fastest-growing injectable skin treatment in the UK — not a filler, not Botox. PDRN therapy that repairs and regenerates your skin from within.
Polynucleotides have become the most searched aesthetic treatment in the UK — but the name puts a lot of people off. Here is what they actually are.
Polynucleotides (also called PDRN, or polydeoxyribonucleotide) are fragments of purified DNA from salmon. When injected into the skin, they do not add volume or fill lines. Instead, they send a repair signal to your skin cells — prompting them to produce more collagen and elastin, improve hydration, and reduce the inflammation that speeds up skin ageing.
Think of it as restoring your skin's own repair mechanism, rather than adding anything to it. The results are subtler than a filler — a gradual improvement in texture, brightness, and quality over several weeks.

Polynucleotides are purified chains of DNA extracted from salmon or trout sperm (PDRN — polydeoxyribonucleotide). When injected into the skin, they act as a scaffold that stimulates your own collagen and elastin production, improves skin hydration, and reduces oxidative stress. They do not add volume like a filler — they improve the quality of the skin itself from within.
Polynucleotides work well for fine lines and crepey skin texture, under-eye hollows, dull or dehydrated skin, skin laxity (early-stage), post-acne or sun-damaged skin, and as a preventative treatment for those in their late 20s to 40s. They are not suitable for replacing lost volume — that would require a filler.
Most clients see noticeable improvement after two to three sessions, spaced two to four weeks apart. A typical initial course is three sessions, with maintenance treatments every three to six months thereafter. We will advise you at your consultation based on your skin and goals.
Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure rather than pain. We use fine needles and apply topical anaesthetic cream before the treatment. Mild redness and small bumps at the injection sites are normal and usually resolve within a few hours.
Both are injectable skin quality treatments with no added volume. Profhilo uses ultra-pure hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and stimulate collagen via bio-remodelling. Polynucleotides (PDRN) take a slightly different mechanism — stimulating cellular repair and regeneration. They can be used alongside each other. See our detailed comparison for more.
Polynucleotides are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for those with a fish or shellfish allergy (due to the salmon source), or for those with active skin infections in the treatment area. A full medical history review is part of every consultation.
